Big Information

The Production Zone has completed ‘Big Information,’ the final programme in the ‘Maths Matters in Computing’ series aimed at sixth form and first year undergraduate students studying maths and/or computing.

The modern world is dominated by very big databases which are moved around the Internet with imperceptible delay. The computer science behind this is fundamental and fascinating. How do Google Earth and other digital databases deliver to the screen with such power and speed?

‘Big Information’ was filmed at Google UK, the British Library at Boston Spa, University of Leeds and seven arts in Chapel Allerton, Leeds.
